As maninblack says, the right documentation. Some cars are sold with little or even no maintenance history (who doesn't keep even a single receipt?). If you can find a car with consistent paperwork that goes back to it's earlier days and seems to reflect what is shown on the odometer and various dates through the years, you'll be much further ahead (but still no guarantee).
I sold my SC several years ago before the market went nuts - I emphasized to the buyer to keep every receipt and slip of paper that was going with the car.
