Got a call yesterday from Amr saying he was calling from CRA/Canada Revenue and said that we did not file a t slip on our 2012 tax return. I said I did not disclose info re. my tax on the phone and told him to send me something in writing.
Perhaps he thought that I knew the gig was up and told me to phone Revenue Canada on the 1-800 #. I phoned up Rev. Can. and checked to see if everything was okay with our tax accounts and they said there was nothing amiss and everything was up to date on our accounts and I was not being audited.
The scammer had a number on our call display. I phoned it up. It was a Winnipeg number and said "Amr is not here right now please a message". I tried to look up the name and address on search wherebye you provide the ph. #. However it wanted to charge me on my credit card so I told myself no thanks. Will report this Amr to the police though but apparently it is a common occurrence this CRA scam....just putting it out there. Watch out.
