I just came back from Europe - no one likes Putin! Several others including Obama didn't go. Leaders from Canada, Germany, England and France among the western leaders. This isn't just about gay rights and everyone has an excuse. Most of the conversation has not been around the athletes, but corruption, building contracts, Snowden and other politics.
Those who stayed away and the feeling I got in Europe have more to do with the guy running Russia than the games. It's politics and business!
