I always cover the splines on both sides with Never-seez. Then slide the coupler on and off a few times. Sometimes you need to tap the coupler on and off a few times to get it to slide freely. I do this on the Tranny side too. It will help when you go to pair them up and will make life easier in case you ever need to take it off again.
