My business partner has a brother, Sam, who does flowers. High end stuff. Years ago he had an opportunity to do a wedding worth about $100K. For the flowers alone. But the catch was that the wedding was the same week as Valentine's.
How could he say no to that? But he didn't want to make his regular customers unhappy. So he delivered out all the Valentine's roses a week early. That way, he could satisfy his regulars awhile also allowing himself enough time for the $$$$ wedding. Plus the flowers are often cheaper (for him) the week before.
His customers **loved** it. The women loved getting the roses earlier than anyone else. The husbands/boyfriends (and sometimes one in the same
) loved that they looked even more thoughtful than usual. Now Sam delivers all his Valentine's arrangements a week before.
