Here's another Virginian Dragoon. This one is in .357 mag, with a 7 1/2" barrel. I understand there may be a bit of a controversy these days over whether or not they actually delivered any in this caliber. Originally designed around the .44 mag cartridge, it makes for a pretty darn heavy gun in .357.
These were introduced by Interarms as a competitor to the Ruger Blackhawk. It's actually a far better gun, but that was also reflected in its price, and as a result it didn't stay on the market for long. What a shame; I bet they could sell them today, what with the resurgence in interest in single actions spurred by the Cowboy Action crowd.
I bought this one brand new in 1981 when I turned 21, just because I could. It was the first centerfire handgun I legally owned as "mine".
