Congratulations, it's a beauty. I bought my 1987 Carrera Targa when it was 10 years old and pushing 100,000 miles. It is just about to turn 200,000 miles and until recently all I've done is have the valves adjusted regularly and change the oil. I did recently have a stalling problem which was a complete bummer! I was so used to the car being 100% reliable! I finally tracked it down to the DME under the drivers seat. I got a rebuilt & upgraded one from Systems Consulting in Manhattan Beach and it's back to running like a new car. I don't know if the DME is one of those inevitable fixes, but it is a relatively cheap fix if you get a rebuilt one. Also, I didn't know it but they upgrade the chip to a 1989 which is a noticeably better chip.
