I like comparing builds and approaches (I am a fan of all builds).
I wanted a 73 2.8 RSR and was lucky enough to find a 73 donor.
Rather than expensive high butterfly fuel injection, I settled for webbers.
and rather than build a 2.4 into a RSR spec 2.7 with a short fuse, I used a 3.0 930 case with less exotic specs, achieving similar power using displacement instead.
...But, I secretly still covet High buttlerflies, and real RSR cases. I save money achieve the performance at the expense of knowing that something intangible is missing.
When I built mine I didn't feel bad modifying a stock car. Mine was lowly "E"
This year an "E" is catching up to an S, and I have thoughts of converting it back to a pristine stock E since that is where the money is...BUT
I remember what my buddy Randy said when guys dropping by the shop were beating me up for going in the RSR direction when they felt nobody wanted an RSR anymore, and that the market was in ST replicas.
Randy stopped the onslaught of verbal attacks that were stressing me out by simply stating "but Wayne wants an RSR."
Carry on Chris, I can't wait to see where this ends up, and I can't think of a better place to store a 3.0 RSR case than in the back of your car where it will get some exercise!
