1982 Porsche New Starting Procedure

Dear All,

I am new to 928s, I have to date been concerned with air cooled motors.

I have owned a 1982 928 with K Jetronic fuel injection (a UK car) and I have had to develop a new starting technique when the motor is cold:

1. Try to start the car with the key, car stumbles but does not start.
2. Remove fuel pump relay and retry, car starts and then dies (due to lack of fuel pressure).
3. Refit fuel pump relay, car starts and off I go.

When motor is warm start in normal way i.e, just with the key.

This is repeatable and I wonder what is up? I have ordered a new fuel pump relay but I have not got it yet (it is coming from the US).

Any ideas?

As for driving the 928 it is fantastic should have tried it earlier.

Regards

Tim
