Greg Understood, yes I were refering to the studs on the exhaust valve side of the head. the bottom rows, and after reading your comments again I expected you were speaking re the actual exhaust area. I was hoping that piping heat in that narrow passage would not cause any harm to the aluminum.

The actual exhaust bolts looks tough, but not corroded, the PO may have done work there before, and like you may have replaced the bolts. That steel should be able to take a lot of heat as you suggested. I will soak them down for a couple of days, and heat them good before I even try to back them out.

Thanks for the link: Great work space, I am right now in the process of making clean space for my parts. searching this forum has been a great help, the experiences you and others had working on these cars, are example I follow. Any point to a process is from lessons learned from this and other forums like this.
