Well now I'm just scratching my head more. Back when I was into it, I always held (traditional re-curve) vertically and never used a release. I've shot a compound bow only a few times. Seemed to me the only difference was the hold force needed. IOW, I'm trying to understand why a compound bow must be held vertically. ...what are the physics ... balance rods?
