This would definitely the best option. Of course I could change out the charging cable with a fixed lead one as well. Maybe I should just go that route. Then there is no question if I used the right charger ...

I really want this battery setup to last. The 993 is very finicky for getting the emissions codes to set. It is not a good idea to cut power to the ECU unless you are at least 12 months from smog, otherwise the codes may never set and you find yourself at the referee station instead of the smog place down the block ... not the end of the world, but a hassle.

Okay. Not sure this is the very best one, but I got this recently after my $10 HF battery maintainer bit the dust after 8 years:
021-0123 Battery Tender Junior 12V Battery Charger

..... and it comes with two sets of connection harnesses to the battery; clip on (color-coded + and –) and eyelet terminals for permanent installation to your electrical system.

The very best??? Hmm. Dunno.
