I agree John....they were incredible in their prime.....best concert I ever attended was The MTB in '73-'74 in Ocala but can't remember who opened for them - could have been NRPS or PPL (?) but anyway - wow.....they were friggin' TIGHT and like you said Doug Gray's vocals (and this is when he was young and his voice was very strong and true) would just reach down to your soul. Great music, great band, I'll never forget.
Spartanburg, S.C. was their home. They always announced that when they played - very proud to be a southern band.
Doug Eubanks on woodwinds was special as well.
