The title may be the deal breaker, although some states have work arounds for old cars on bill of sale -- provided a search demonstrates it was not stolen, or salvaged.

A shot of the original paint color and the VIIN plate.

The rust on the driver's side rocker gives one pause, but the floors are solid, and the rest of the body panels are visibly sound.

Driver's floor looks good.

Obviously, who knows what lurks beneath. Being a galvanized car, hidden rot is merely a serious concern rather than a guarantee like in an earlier car. There is a chance it could be localized.

Claims to have books, tools, and Fuchs wheels -- though condition doesn't sound great. Reading further, the sport seats are "period correct" rather than original. But still not bad to have.

Once I retire and get a real workshop, I aspire to get a project car that I can restore myself. I understand it is almost always a losing proposition -- but what hobbies are free?

This would be the type of car I would consider. Low buy-in, generally intact, minimal bodywork (if that rocker is the only issue), reasonable parts prices (no "one year only" unique bits) and having something interesting and desirable at the end.
