Sounds like your Android folks must be rather dense with smart phones. The entire home screen can be configured to their preference. Want a Apple feel - configure it with commonly used icons. You know - text messages, contacts, pictures, music...etc. Most Android phones come out of the box like configured in that very manner. If it takes more than a single icon press to find a text or a picture then the user is at fault - not the phone/OS.

The biggest handicap for Android phones, and perhaps this is my narrow sampling with ATT, is that the mobile carrier loads them with horrible apps that non rooted phone users can't remove or disable.

We are a mix of Linux, Apple, Android, and Windows here. I have to admit I really liked my MacBook Pro until it recently started having GPU problems that cause the computer to crash/reboot 3-4x a day. I must have a black mark over there at Apple because this is the second Apple computer (first was a iMac) where they refused to stand behind their product. I am to pay for the fix...it's a late 2010 model. Not this time Apple, I'm going to get a newer laptop and flash it with Linux.

I'm in agreement that iOS appears to be losing some of it's famed "just works" glow. The transition to cloud (iCloud) has not been a smooth one for Apple and IMO the faithful have suffered for it. The pressure from Android/Samsung is perhaps forcing Apple to push to market stuff that is not finished to the level it once was.
