Yes, you need the fog light stalk/knob.
The 2 stage defrost switches work with a "pull" for stage 1 and a clockwise "twist" for stage 2.
Nice that you are restoring the original look/function of things. Velcroed CD controller = yuck. :-(
On the cig. lighter, have you checked the fuse? Maybe the PO pulled fuse when they tucked the barrel into dash?
