She held her hand over Judith's mouth for an awfully long time in one of the previous episodes. That was a clue as to how twisted she was... that and all that sick stuff about giving rats to walkers.

That is kind of the same reason Rick kicked Carol out of the group. Rick couldn't trust Carol so he only banished her. Carol couldn't trust Lizzy so she killed her. I guess that is the difference between a Ricktatorship and a Carolocracy.
On the Talking Dead, Melissa McBride (Carol) seemed slightly off. I don't know if it was the heaviness of watching the previous episode or she didn't want to give too much away about the last two episodes of the season. She didn't seem like she could form a complete thought when asked certain questions. Maybe she is just uncomfortable being interviewed.
