I've had a few no-start issues in my '77 as well. The problems for me ended up being 1) a damaged 'green wire' from the distributor to the CDI, and 2) a brand new MSD coil gone bad.
These were at two different times, about a year apart.
If you have a spare coil, it only takes a minute to swap it in a test that theory.
Otherwise, try the CDI. Which unit is in your car?
