You have some learning to do.
I personally make the presumption that OP's kid is deserving of such a neat first car as evidenced by OP's choice to endorse it (whether financially or simply through permission). I hope that my kids will be mature and responsible enough so that I can one day share a picture like that. I suspect it's a fantasy of many parents here.
But don't discount the value of a beater as a first car. Many teens are careless dumbasses and perfectly suited for ratty paint and door dings. That doesn't necessarily make the car unsafe.
I hope your kids end up being deserving of the car you think you want to 'buy them'. But please don't assume that those who insist on their kids paying their own freight and starting out with a beater are selfish or thoughtless.
