I'd rather have someone run up a big credit card bill that visa won't make me pay, instead of have them empty my checking account and having to get the money refunded back to me...
Plus, it's about gaming the system. There are tons of free cards that help you build rewards points or give cash back. Every little bit helps, and the free nights at hotels make it to where we can travel much more than of we had to pay for rooms. We have already stayed in or have already booked 6 free nights this year at various hotels. I'm sure we'll rack up a few more
