you can't really use the 911 comparison there. they don't have the same kind of weight distribution as the 944. the front end of those cars is very light, which is why they can more easily run a wider tire on the same rim, without the penalty of wallowing. in fact, it probably helps that car to be a bit more settled.

yes, it can be done. many do it. it all really depends on how you plan to drive the car, as to whether or not it would be an issue.
