You will need to drop the engine to change the one under the AC compressor.
I learned this the hard way.
I just replaced the IMS bearing, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing, flywheel, rear crankshaft seal, and the two rear chain tensioners in my 2004 Boxster. The old IMS bearing was like new at 43K miles. The 101 book doesn't tell you when the engine has to be dropped. I think that their pictures are taken with a removed engine.

I have the new front tensioner if anyone is interested in buying it.
