Disagree with above. In the same boat as the OP a few months back and settled on the Accord Sport with a 6 speed stick. Couldn't be happier. Not "fast", but adequate. Very quiet, nicely featured, comfortable and consistently gets north of 30mpg. Not sure I'll ever spend for a high end DD again. This has been a good experience.

In the Accord's defense, I haven't seen the newest models up close and personal. Have spent some time in a friend's 2012. Nice car, but for me it just felt like something was missing. Might sound cliche but it's that "soul" thing. Felt like an appliance... and a nice one at that, but it didn't make me want one. As soon as my butt hit the seat of the Mazda6, I thought, "This is a car I WANT to own."
