The poll results so far are interesting. The majority are like me, fill up at 1/4 tank. I am surprised to see how many wait until the light is on.
My daily driver does not have a low fuel light so I forget that it is a reasonable thing for many. My 911 has a light but you can only see it at night. Neither car has a computer to tell me how much further the car will go. Just an analog gauge.
The biggest reason I fill up at 1/4 is not some irrational fear of running out, I just prefer to get gas when it is most convenient for me. I prefer to get gas on the way home at my favorite place that sells 100% gasoline. They also have cold beer so I can get a cold 12 pack to stock the fridge. I can fill the tank and the fridge with one stop.
If I get real low I may have to stop at some random gas station and get gas of unknown origin.
