Shipping a car + parts

I don't know if this really falls under the category of "technical", but I am looking for a 911 project to work on and have found several of them around the country. I have shipped cars before, but they were all running and complete (and only the car). What do people do if the car is not running and there are several extra parts. Perhaps the car is partially dismantled or there is an extra set of seats, an extra engine, that type of thing. Most companies say they don't allow you to put extra items inside the car. If it were a reasonable distance from me, I could see renting a truck or borrowing a trailer and picking the stuff up, but I'm not really enthused about a 2000 mile trip in a box truck with a trailer behind it. Are there services that do this? Do you just ship the car with a normal hauler and then put the other stuff on pallets and use a freight company?
