This is along the lines of what I was thinking... possibly goes WAY back to some primal territorial marking thing? It is so ubiquitous (look mom I used a big word!) no one questions that men pee standing up (generally speaking, the few women in charge of very young boys I mention notwithstanding) However, logically I can't think of any reason why I can't vent just as easily sitting as standing... and logically the odds of making a mess (splashing, dribbles. missed aim) is much less sitting Vs. standing. On the other hand something deep inside me yells "FOUL!!!" when a lady suggests I pee sitting down.
