I thought they NEVER confirmed what they were
going to do, and only confirmed what they
had done hesitently, and decades after the fact.
I'll bet my last dollar that an SR-71 replacement (maybe unmanned) is already flying, but I'll bet my last 2c we won't see it for another 20 years.
(Why am I so sure? Because the USAF rolled over on the SR-71 program being cancelled. They'd have never given in that quietly unless they had something even better in the shed)
