You need to add things up:
Timing belt and water pump: $5,000
Intake refresh: $3,000
Pay someone to remove fuel injectors, send out for cleaning and then reinstall: $2,000
New fuel lines: $1,000
Somewhat factory quality paint job: $40,000
Interior refresh: $15,000
Suspension, steering and brake refresh: $15,000
Repair "termite" damage under heads: $20,000
Pay someone to remove pod and repair any dashboard electrical gremlins: $4,000
Used tires from the junk yard...4 X $10 each: $40
Other misc. repairs such as sun roof, locks, climate controls etc. $12,000
You'll have $117,040 invested into this car which will then be worth $5,000.
Now take another $2,000 off because it's a salvage title...he should be paying YOU about $115,000 to haul it away.
Of course if you do your own wrenching you could knock off about $110,000 and have a decent driver with enough left over for a
good at 10' Maaco paint job. Still too much hassle imo, unless you want a project.
