Gots me on o' them that hold down bolt wrenches. Right of passage in my family is removing a motor, rebuilding it, re-installing it, and having the vehicle run for long enough to tire of it and sell it.

Failed on my first attempt. First year away at college someone sugared my gas tank. What a mess, discovered it when it spun a rod bearing. Summer project was resurrecting the Audi. After all that work cleaning the gook out of all the fuel stuff and rebuilding the motor, discovered the hard way the units worn off the old torque wrench in my Dad's tool box were inch-lbs. instead of ft-lbs. It almost made 500 miles before literally flying apart.

Second attempt was much more successful. With he help of a few special tools and a New Torque Wrench. Full size 81 GMC Jimmy with 305 needed more power. Got a small block 400 with 2.02 heads free, built it up all hot rodded with cams, roller rockers, edlebrock intake hooker headers, etc, swapped out and sold the 305 for what the hot rod parts cost me on the 400. Turned out to be very quick for a big 4x4 AND got much better gas mileage than the anemic 305. 19 instead of 10. Drove it for 2 years before selling it to some chick. Not sure what the heck she was doing with it, but heard it ate 3 turbo 350 transmissions in a year. Maybe it was the lockup torque converter I put in, but I didn't have any problems for 2 years.
