Spending some time at gold mines in Nevada this week. Stayed in a small town called Winnemucca. Actually not a bad place or at least not the worst I've stayed in. Had a really nice meal at place called the Martin Hotel where they serve family style Basque dining. Had the braised lamb shanks. Pretty good. A surprise to get such a meal there but knowing the mining history of the area I knew that there may be some 'diamonds in the rough'.
Had to take this shot. Winnemucca has a red light area and casinos. Thought maybe the local talent was trying to drum up business!
Had to drive for over an hour to get to the first site. Not much activity. Glad I packed some bottles of water and had a full tank. Met some locals
but all they did was look at me or run away...
