Think a prerequisite for winning the lottery is you are required to actually purchase a ticket.
Played scratch offs for a while. Invested $20 dollars in $2 scratch-offs on a wim. Won a few bucks and re-invested. Won some $20 serval times and a couple of $100 wins. Quit playing about 6 months later when I got back down to my original $20 investment. Was buying 5 at a time and hovered at around $100 ahead for a long time as at least one in the 5 would win something. Ended up not costing me anything and was entertaining.
Scratch-offs are a bit different than lottery tickets. They print a finite amount and have a specific number of winners of each amount in each printing. They also provide a web site that tracks how many cards are sold and what prizes have been won. You can pick the scratch-off with the most wins left in relation to how many have been sold to greatly increase the odds of winning.
