I don's dislike spiders and snakes any more than any other pest. Soiders and snakes actually serve a valuable function. Spiders kill and eat bugs, snakes kill and eat rodents.
Went out and caught a tarantula and put it under the garden shed in my back yard at my parents house, it got rid of a box elder bug infestation that pest control companies couldn't. Sadly when a neighbor killed the tarantula the box elders came back.
Don't have a rodent problem and haven't seen any snakes.
Do have a great horned owl that roosts in the top of my cottonwood tree. I can hear it hooting at night, but have never been able to spot it.
Used to have a couple of huge toads that would sit on the front porch that kept the crickets in check. You know, the crickets that their grubs eat your grass roots and make the the little dirt piles in the yard when they turn into crickets. My next door neighbor, a teacher caught them and took to show her 1st graders. Didn't find out until she come over to tell me the toads didn't survive the 1st graders. Told her I wondered what had happened to Hop and Jump, my pet toads. The cricket population grew very quickly. Leave my porch and garage lights on all night and have noticed some new much smaller toads have finally taken Hop and Jumps place. It's fun to toss small stones and dirt clods in front of them. They eat them then spit em right back out.
What eats ants?
