Check the monitors' accuracy by manually feeling pulse/counting for 15 sec.
Also get on an exercise bike and see what HR you get.
If it is actually 230, that would worry me. 220-age is a very rough formula and I don't take it too seriously (my max HR by that should be 169 but I routinely am 180+ when cycling and have seen 195), but well over 200 is pretty darn high.
