Fire your friend...the 2.0 will have three studs holding the intake manifold to the heads, one on each side and one in the middle.
The 1.7/1.8 will have four, with two of them in the middle....now this just tells you what heads you have...
The best way to tell what motor it is to check the serial number on the block.
