My first car ride ever was in my 356 - on the way home from the hospital after being born. In Mom's arms no less - no baby seat, etc. And my daughter (2 1/2 y/o) has been enjoying rides around the yard (lots of acres) for more than a year.
To help keep the faith going, I tend to give young kids special treats with the car - let them sit in it, parking lot rides, etc. For example, I was picking up a few things at the FLAPS (oil filter, etc) and there was a 5 y/o kid there with his dad. Living in a very rural area, the little kid had never seen a Porsche in real life and was very impressed - "Oh WOW that's a Porsche! Does it go fast? Did it cost a lot?" type things. After getting permission from his father (who looked on thru the windows of the shop), I took him for a quick spin around the parking lot - never going above 20 or so, but doign some very tight cornering (remember ghia track racing?).
Kid gets out of the car iwth a BIIIIG smile on his face... and I think his finger prints are now permamently impressed in the "oh *****" handle. I doubt he'll every drive anything other than a Chevvy truck, but I also doubt he will ever forget that afternoon either.
