Value for insurance
Just looking at some prices of other longhoods, and wondering if I should up my coverage. I'm currently covered for $34k. What do you guys think? Here are details:
1972 911t, originally sold in Germany, imported to Canada in the 80s. Several owners, I'm at least the 5th or 6th, but I have no records from Germany.
190,000 km, though it's only a 5-digit odometer, so I can't confirm for sure.
1982 3.0L engine, bought from a Pelican in Seattle 3 years ago, PPI by John Walker showed decent but acceptable compression and leakdown #s. 150k miles on it at the time. Original #s matching 2.4L engine (confirmed by Porsche) is on my garage floor, needs a rebuild. Runs fine, but smokes on acceleration and is tired.
Partial RS Clone: fibreglass ducktail, steel SC flares welded on the rear, 15x7s and 8s, but no front flares or decals.
I've owned the car since 2004 and have done a ton of work on it. Here's the good and bad list:
bad:
-rust in the front trunk, just in front of the right spare tire well, 1/2" x 3" hole.
-jack pad inserts are rusted
-rust in suspension pan mounts (hopefully I'll get that fixed this coming winter)
-6/10 paint. PO did a Maaco respray. It's not bad, but definitely a 5 footer.
-ducktail is not a perfect match paint job. It's only noticeable in full sun, but still not perfect. (I have the original decklid)
-small rust bit under the paint at the front lower corner of the pass. door (winter project - not sure how big it is, but it's not rusted through to the inside of the door skin at least)
good:
-all records since I bought it in Oct/04, meticulous maintenance
new interior 2012 (cloth seats, new RS leather door panels, all new carpet)
-factory S options, including front spoiler (steel), gauges and S front calipers
-rebuilt transmission 2008
-rebuilt webers 2009
-new Weltmeister front sway bar 2009
-all-new MSD ignition (CD box and coil) 2009
-new clutch 2008
-Weltmeister Cambermeister front strut brace
-Bursch sport exhaust 2007
-Speedo repaired and recalibrated by North Hollywood Speedo, new cable 2008
-Porsche short shifter and later 915 shifter base 2009 (still have original)
-new motor/transmission mounts, winter 2008
-new shocks/ball joints 2006
-new fuel pump 2005
-new master cylinder 2005
-replaced all shifter bushings, throttle shaft bushing 2005
-soft brake hoses replaced 2007
-oil return tube replaced 2009
-gas tank removed and cleaned 2009
I'm not looking to sell, just want to make sure I've got adequate coverage on it. With the way longhood prices have been going, it seems I can't keep up with them.
