I think black cars generally look pretty good when new, but are impossible to keep clean. Unfortunately black is also an absorptive color that hides the curves and highlights of the car body. Yellow, white and orange are the colors that most body shops will try and steer you toward since they mask most of the body imperfections(guards red does the same thing). Silver on the other hand is the color of choice when mocking up an auto body in the automobile design industry. Silver shows all of the highlights,curves and minimizes the "always dirty"look.
