Have 4 kids...13 to 5 y.o. . Brought Sully home from the Humane. Soc. last January as a pup. He's Border Collie, Blue Tick, Aust. Shep., Newfie and German Shorthair...and probably some gopher but at this point what's the difference? He's smart, food motivated and will play until you can't take it. He's a nervous pee'r and won't let me go the loo alone. Doesn't shed much. Sleeps well in the garage. Good coat for outside all day in real winter temps. He's never shown aggression toward anything but some Robins and a squirrel. My kids can't get enough of him and he loves it. So far, so good.
After reading your post a little closer, my parents had an Airedale that fit your requirements really well too.
