Though I grew up on the Gulf Coast of FL (flat), I was very active on the East Coast: Sebastian, Vero, Cocoa, et al. We recently bought a small beach "get away" on the East Coast of NC and after a 20+ year hiatus from surfing, I'm getting back into it. For my 45th birthday, my sweetheart treated me to a new 7'-4" WRV thruster. More of a "fun shape", but handles closer to a shortboard than a longboard. Beautifully made.
At this stage of the game for me, it's about catching waves, building confidence, easing back into it, developing my old form, and that's why we opted for a less aggressive shape and size.
From paddling, I can already feel soreness in those back and shoulder muscles that have gone unused. Any tips for a once active "old timer" trying to find his old mojo?
