While reading that post I could hear his voice speaking those words.
For some reason I can't for the life of me ever imagine our present president delivering a speech like that.
Having watched the 'World Wars' show on History channel just recently (or was it Discovery?), this speech really has new meaning to me.
My dad was there on D-Day. He was a quarter master on an LST. He never did talk to me about his time serving. Mom said before the war he liked to hunt. After, he never really cared for it much. It obviously changed him in a way I'll never know.
