Visited Grady
Friends:
I visited Grady in the hospital this afternoon and I am sorry to report that the news is not good at all. His condition is declining rapidly and the expectations for recovery are very low. He may be moved home soon so if you are considering a visit, I would check with the hospital first to see if he's been discharged. The main number is (720) 848-0000.
As for a fund of some sort to benefit Grady, I can tell you that he is comfortable financially and has good health insurance. However, if the Pelican collective would like to do something for Grady, that I know he would appreciate, he has supported a young immigrant family both financially and by providing tutoring and mentoring for a few years. He is currently helping to pay the lion's share of undergrad tuition, fees and expenses of the oldest child, the daughter, who is attending college in the Denver area with the hope of being accepted into medical school someday (really bright!). If there would be enough interest, I can contact Grady's accountants to see if they would be willing to accept checks on his behalf. I can get you an address and a suggestion for a payee.
