Its true, the Hurricane was the workhorse. But the Spitfire was pure race horse, (romantically anyway....)
That show "Spitfire Aces" was a great piece of TV- sadly a reality show format with a group of people/pilots vying for the "job" of flying the aircraft, with the same training given recruits in the 1940s. But it also told the story of the evolution of the Spitfire, early WW2 and the BoB . But - the absolute stars were the four old codgers who told their stories, one of which you see flying that aeroplane. It was great TV.
