Given our current life style a 2 dr hatch is about the last car we would get as it is totally impractical. We have a booster seat more or less permanently installed in the back seat of the Jetta for the 4 YO granddaughter and asking friends (or enemies) to crawl in and out of the backseat of a 2 door just isn't going to happen. 4 doors is an absolute necessity.
As to hauling stuff around, that is what the F-150 is for.
