Back in the day, when the 917 came onto the scene, and sent the competition into the stone-age, it did suffer the indignity of not finishing the first year at Le Mans. It would have to wait 1 more year of development to get Porsche's ultimate goal.
Although I am very pumped up to see the 919 this year, my gut feeling is Audi and especially Toyota have developed their versions of LMP1, and lady-luck has to be on Porsche's side to pull this off.
Anyway you slice it, it should be an epic race!
