I don't know that comments from previous gens A3s apply, the new A3 is NOT the same car at all...
I'm curious about the S3, as a current S4 owner (that car's kick off the line is truly neck snapping) but I'm sad they used the 2.0T instead of the superb supercharged 3.0 (stupidly called 3.0"T" as well)
All I can say based of the cars I've test driven recently (base model loaners at the dealer) is: do NOT ever buy an Audi if you are not gonna get a quattro. That's just pissing money away... I mean if you're getting a FWD car with a 2.0T engine, save yourself $10-15K and buy a GTI or a passat... If you are gonna get an Audi and spend that kinda of $, get the quattro ! Makes all the difference in the world in dynamics and feel and allows snappy take offs.
