I just sold a car and the guy gave me a deposit but after thinking about it, what good is a deposit anyways? Shows the seller you're serious? If you decide not to purchase the car, it's not like the seller can cash the check or keep the money. I suppose they could and play stupid until you get your money back from the courts, etc but in reality until the full purchase price is paid and everything is signed for, no deal is made.

The only thing I can say is how many out of area people probably email or call daily to these guys saying they want the car, hold it for them. Hell, I had a guy tell me he wanted my 914, wants a PPI so I said great, what time and where....radio silence from then on. I got so annoyed with how many emails started off with "I want to buy the car...." Just say your interested, its not like I take any more or less serious because they claim they want it in the email!!!
