Yes this is the exciting part ! Now find out what color it was / is and what options it came with. Like the other posters mentioned there are too many variables without seeing pics, but try pricing any parts for a 65 car. The prices for good cars are extremely high, so maybe if there is some room on his price and its complete, it could easily be worth the ask.
There is an an interesting thread on early911sreg where someone was buying a very early car and put out a request for help and got someone who really knows the 64/65 cars to come and look at it with him. I cant remember how it worked out but its absolutely worth taking a look over there.
