The Iconic 911R technically did have the "oil door". Nuff said..
The main reason why the tank was moved back to its original position was to address liability. It's hard to engineer out the stupid customer factor. That's why the RS did not have the forward tank because the T,E,S did not.
Hagerty might be on with their prices but, likely are also factoring insurance values from held policies which is subjective data to say the least.
Though the 73 MFI T is the same animal as the 72T aside from the oil tank location, prices likely reflect its proximity to the RS. That is the only reason I see for its placement above the 72. The ugly ass bumpers of the 73 should actually knock it down IMO.
Having spent some time watching these cars it's my impression that given comparable 72 and 73 MFI Ts for sale, the 72 sells quicker.
That is the mark of desirability by collectors and enthusiasts alike and is not always reflected by prices.
