Improved design? Yes for a new target, environmental regulations. No for performance. And yes I know Porsche started to race using CIS, but they are a production car manufacturer and as such race what they sell.
When MFI is setup correctly without worn out parts and solid ignition it is bulletproof! And the throttle response is thrilling, the sounds glorious.
Yes, I have 3 '72's and a '69E so call me MFI biased.
