Probably IMS bearing related. He wants to see if there are any metal particles to be found in the sump. In the unlikely event your IMS bearing is starting to fail it would be a good place to look for any indications. There is also a possibility that he wants check the baffles on the sump pan to make sure they are in good shape.
I would first check your oil filter (cut it open) for any signs of an IMS problem. Easy to do.
